The mono diet: a rejuvenating cure for our intestines and much more...

Why follow a mono diet?
To understand the benefits of a mono diet, we need to understand human physiology.
The primary goal of a mono diet is to rest the digestive system for a given period of time, which results in a cascade of beneficial effects on the entire body, as the digestive system is the cornerstone of the body's homeostasis.
If the digestive system malfunctions, it systematically has a negative impact on all other organ systems, particularly the immune system, the psychological and emotional sphere, and the acid-base balance. This is why it is essential to take care of your digestive system.
The principle of digestion is simple: when you ingest food, each element is broken down to its simplest form—nutrients—for absorption by the small intestine. This work is carried out by enzymes: highly specialized proteins. Each enzyme can only work on the molecule to which it is dedicated.
When you eat only one food, the vast majority of enzymes are at rest, leaving only those dedicated to the molecules contained in that food to work. This reduces the workload of the entire digestive system.
The entire digestive tract is then relieved, functionally speaking.
But that's not all! The intestinal mucosa, often attacked by the many unsuitable foods we eat, can therefore rebuild and regenerate quickly, without suffering any further attacks. Indeed, the constant attacks it faces on a daily basis can prevent it from rebuilding effectively.
A regenerated and effective intestinal barrier ensures a fully functioning immune system, because an often overlooked fact: the digestive and immune systems work closely together.
Another important parameter: a functional digestive system means a preserved psychological and emotional system, because here too, the impact of digestive work on the nervous system is well-established. Did you know that the intestine is called our "second brain"?
Finally, the first organ served by blood from the small intestine after nutrient absorption is the liver, for the purpose of purifying and processing the absorbed molecules. This organ is therefore indirectly relieved by the rest of the digestive system induced by the mono diet, and the body's entire detoxification system, overseen by the liver itself, can then perform its functions optimally.
Finally, the mono diet has almost the same beneficial effects on the body as fasting, and its implementation is more accessible.
When and how to do a mono diet?
Most often, a mono diet is part of a structured body cleansing program, where it actively contributes, along with other methods, to overall body relief.
In naturopathy, we strive to mimic the workings of nature. This is why certain times of the year are much more conducive to cleansing than others.
Early spring, a time of awakening and blossoming of nature after winter, is an excellent time to start your mono diet.
Fall is also an excellent time to start your mono diet, to prepare the body for winter.
Ideally, a mono diet should be followed over a period of three days: the time necessary for effective regeneration of the intestinal mucosa cells.
The important thing is to succeed in your mono diet, and not to overdo it, for it to have an effect.
A mono diet can be considered for weight loss, but that is not its primary goal. And above all, you risk being disappointed. Indeed, as soon as you resume your usual diet, the weight loss will quickly disappear. So take the opportunity to rebalance your diet to maintain all the benefits.
A successful mono-diet requires careful preparation the day before, and a two-day return to normal is necessary to gently ease the body into a new routine. This is why this "treatment" lasts six days and is supervised by our team, who will take great care of you.

Preparing for the Mono Diet

Choose your food.

For a 3-day mono diet, it will take half the time of the treatment to achieve a dietary reduction, and the same amount of time to begin the resumption of eating.

During the dietary reduction period: the principle is simple. Over a day and a half, you will reduce the variety of your diet, meal by meal, prioritizing the most difficult-to-digest nutrients and thus prepare your digestive system for a rest period.

Day 2: Dinner (you will still be at home): no meat, no fish.

D-1: (day of arrival) Breakfast: no meat, no fish, no dairy products

D-1: Lunch (ideally at Jardin Sakina): Same as above

D-1: Dinner (at Jardin Sakina): Green vegetable soup without potatoes or other starchy foods (called cellulose porridge)

D-0: Begin your mono-diet with the chosen food.

The mono-diet regime

From D-0 to D-2: Mono-diet regime

During your three days of mono-diet, you may only consume the chosen food in the form of your choice: raw or cooked (we will offer you pleasant and varied options), without adding fat or sugar.

Only spices are allowed to vary the flavors and break up the monotony (you can count on Sabrina's creativity). Eat the chosen food at your leisure, with no limit on the quantity.

You should only drink plenty of water, possibly herbal teas. Hydration is essential for the success of this process, as it promotes the elimination of waste products released through urine.

No other ingredients should be added to the protocol, otherwise the process could be jeopardized.

Ending the Mono Diet

As with the dietary reduction, a transition period is necessary to allow for the gradual return to your usual diet, also equal to half the course.

Day 3: Morning: Vegetable soup

Day 3: Lunch: Vegetables, fruits, plant-based proteins, starchy foods

Day 3: Dinner: Same as above

Day 4: Morning: Same as above, and introduce dairy products and possibly eggs
